Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

It's a good book, it covers the whole race and all the classes, so F1 content isn't terribly prominent, but there are some nice photos of the cars that competed. All of the text is in French, so if you can't read it you might be a little disappointed by the book.

Best to view a copy first, before commiting to one blind.

Wait till Goodwood and check out the book stalls.

Greg:

You have been missing out on deals. Every race I go to, I hit the stalls to see what kind of McLaren items I can find. That's how I ended up with the Endurance and Le Mans books, McLaren T-Shirts, McLaren pins, etc. It's the stop I take right before lunch so I can put everything in my car and then head back to the paddock.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I would have the Le-mans 1995 in my top 3 behind F1 GTR Book, and the GT Endurance 95 book.I was lucky to pick my english version up at Le-man 98 race .I slipped up when buying the 1997 Le-mans book from the NEC once,as i bought the french version!
No wonder i never find much Mclaren stuff at shows these days, with all the other forum guy's in front of me.E-bay remains he top place for memorabilia.
Press packs from the various race,s seem quite rare. There are a few i would like! I have a couple of Gulf ones,West,& Marlboro-zuhai96.I would like the Davidoff 95 press pack someday!

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I've got finally today that INTO THE RED- book. It's the second edition whit that CD. Thansk for those who recomended that book to me!
Quite a long time considered that but finally ended up to buy it.
And what a book it is. Absolutely fantastic historic cars and really great story about #10R, and the others. Only bad thing that book was, it is very....VERY expensive. But if you like historic cars, Alfa-Romeos, Bugatis, Ferraris and even BRM's, then you might consider it.
The quality of the book is exelent. Defenitely.

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I thought I'd expand on this a little, as I have been active on the buying front of late.

I have begun to increase my library again, but this time with magazines. Recently, I have bought

This looks a strange choice, but it has 2 pages on the Mclaren GTR but it doesn't state so on the cover

and I have been after this for a while, seeing as it has that 'famous' Black LM build pic in it

I now intend to keep it at this for the time being, although once the bug bites again I may have to dive in and buy some more at a later date.

Suffice to say I have had to buy more storage boxes to keep these [and the books] in.

I just wish I bought them when they were out and kept them, instead of having to pay a slightly inflated price nowadays plus P+P

I had had this magazine! Maybe still had! Have to go to find that!
I'll remember that the story was good and quality!

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

I've just bought the 1996 Le Mans book - it's pretty good, a nice read, some cool pictures and fairly cheap too

I've also recently won off eBay Driving Ambition signed by Gordon Murray, Doug Nye and the late Creighton Brown

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

The Le Mans Commemorative Edition, run of 59; It's the 10th Anniversary Edition, so did they make a limited run after they won Le Mans, and then another run 10 years later? Or was it just produced 10 years after the Le Mans win?

Re: Books on the Mclaren - Which ones to get and why

The original Limited Edition DA was sold for £575. One is on ebay unsold at £438 as the reserve price wasn't met and seeing as they are now all sold out from Mclaren, is this really the price to pay?

Same goes for the brochure from the launch in Monaco - £215.00!!

I see eBay in 2 lights - as a buyer hoping to find that 'gem' at a great price, and as a seller trying to get more than what I originally paid for the item.
