4x4 chains

Does anyone have any experience with chains rubbing? I have a stock 04 xterra, with 265/75-16 BFGs. I have only used chains offroading a couple of times, but they were rubbing pretty bad(btw- i have RUD chains http://www.bb4wa.com/articles/Chains.htm). The chains were plenty tight.....and we were trying to see where they were rubbing- but could not see. They were rubbing in the back most and i thought maybe on the inner fender? But there were no marks. I need new tires and was considering going back down to the 265/70-16s if i could solve the rubbing problem(however i think i would need to get new chains-different size)

Re: 4x4 chains

I've never used chains offroading, but that's just me.

On the earlier models, there is a fuel filter cover in the passenger side rear tire well that gets rubbing while offroad with heavy articulation and big tires unless you put in bump-stop extensions. That would be my guess.
