Sunfire lowbeam problems
I am having a problem with my passenger side lowbeam lamp.
When the DRL is on, there is nothing on the passenger side. When I turn lights on, still nothing. I only have light on that side when I put on the high beams. I have replaced the bulb and the fuses. Suggestions? |

Re: Sunfire lowbeam problems
Thanks.
The relay.....where is it located? And can it affect only one lowbeam? |

!! this is important to help identify specific diagrams and locations for your vehicle!! No it typically affects both, but can just one. May be in the switch, or the wiring. kinda odd that only one is effected I'll check a wiring diagram and see if that gives any clues? Also check the wires at the lights plugs, and make sure the plug ins are clean and not corroded/rusty. Ya check the DRL Relay !!

Re: Sunfire lowbeam problems
It's a '98
I thought it was weird that it is only affecting one. I will check the DRL relay but they appear to work fine. The wiring also seems to be ok. Quote:

Re: Sunfire lowbeam problems
Well you cant tell a relay is bad by looking at it.
Need a volt/ohm meter. Try this link Free Heres a wire diagram 1997-00 Pontiac headlights w/DRL chassis schematic Hope this helps, if not just hollar!

Re: Sunfire lowbeam problems
Still having issues. This is what I have done so far:
1. changed bulb, no luck 2. removed DRL relay, both lowbeams work but are very weak 3. put in brand new relay, back to square 1...no lowbeam on passenger side Anything else I can try myself before I resort to going to a shop? Thanks. Quote:

Re: Sunfire lowbeam problems
Also If the fuses and wires are all good,
chances are the headlight switch is bad.
