2 tone paint help

as some may know i am getting ready to do a 2 tone paint on my f-150. the colors are lime pearl and silver. top green bottom silver. i have some regular tan masking tape, but i layed it on primer and the stick was to strong and peeled some primer, so i am thinking when i do my paint it will peel it! then i would cry!! what kind of tape should i use?

next question

the 2 tone. should i do just spray the top half green, leaving the bottom untaped (painting far enuf down to do the silver). then mask the top to create the 2 tone line and then shoot silver? or silver then green?

thanks!

Re: 2 tone paint help

Tamiya Masking tape.

It doesnt really matter what order. I would put the green over the silver though.

Re: 2 tone paint help

Use regular old masking tape, Work's for me as long as I don't spray heavy, The blue painter's tape, Don't stick. So it will run under the paint easy.

Re: 2 tone paint help

The blue painters tape sucks. Its horrible. When the paint doesnt run under it, it builds a thick line between the two colors from the mask. Sometimes wont stick, or will stick to well thus ripping the paint. Also the tape is really "fibery", so it tends to have some color filter through.

Just grab a roll of the Tamiya Tape. I bought mine 6months ago and have half a roll left. It last for ever. Definately worth the what, five bucks I think. Great stuff.
