Revell Ferrari California

Hello All
I am new to building Autos. And also new to this forum.
I build mostly 48th and 32nd scale Jets, and have never built a car kit before, until I saw this Revell Ferrari California in a Hobbytown USA in Duluth Ga. What a sexy car.
The building of it was easy, it's the finish I'm having problems with.
I'm used to rough and dirty exteriors. But HIGH SHINE!! mmmmm... harder then I thought. It's not quite finished but here it is. I'll also be posting picture of my ZR1 Corvette shortly.
Hope you like, and thanks for looking.
Tim
Savannah, Ga.

Re: Revell Ferrari California

Looks quite good I must say. The hi-gloss finish is probably the most important part of building car models as it's the most visible, and it's also one of the hardest to master.

You might want to go "rough and dirty" on those rims - by that I mean a little detailing and some blackwash in order to bring out the details. At the moment they look quite toy-like.

Other than that - good luck and if there's anything we can do to help feel free to ask.

Re: Revell Ferrari California

Thank you Ales.
I was going for the super clean look. But it would look good if the lugnuts and center caps were hilighted.
I'll post more pix.

Thanks again
Tim

Re: Revell Ferrari California

Tim,

One little heads-up - the lug nuts on the real car are actually chrome so if you make them that they will stand out some. But still a wash will be beneficial as long as you don't overdo it.
