Question 1996 jimmy keyless entry failure

I heard about the way to program was to ground out pin 8 and pin 4 and so on. Well I get nothing when I tried so I took it to the dealer and they said the accuator was bad so I replaced that and still nothing I cannot get this thing to go into program mode. My Truck was built in 6--26-95 does anyone know what could be wrong?
Thanks Maddog

Drop the kick panel on the driver's side. You will see the keyless entry box. Using aligator clips with a wire between them, jump both posts on the red connector. Your doors will cycle and you will be in programming mode. Press and hold the OPEN button. When the locks cycle again, remove the jumper on the red connector. You're done..

Re: 1996 jimmy keyless entry failure

Yea I hear ya however I don't have that particular box I have the smaller one that has several wires that plug in. It is about half that size. I grabbed another one out of one at the bone yard. I had originally thought it was that one and came home with two then pulled the kick panel to discover that it was the small one. Now what?

Thanks for replying
