Tranny help!!!!!!

I have a 98 zx2 auto, just picked up the car, guy before me said he was having same issue and replaced trans, still having same issue, heres the issue. Won't shift into gear while in drive, can put into low, baby the throttle till it kicks into gear, let off shift to D let it go into gear speed up, let off and shift into OD then it shift perfectly fine, if putting into drive can put to floor and does nothing. speedo also not working, guy stated the speed sensor wasnt hooked up, only connection on it is the 2 wire plug, idk if thats all that plugs to it. i was going to buy a speed sensor but didnt want to start buying things that i dont need. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a number of things!
I would first look to see if you cand find any diconnected wiring and/or vaccuum lines. If the speedometer isn't working it is more then likely not connected. check to see if the shift cable is on right. is there enough tranny fluid? Did he replace the oil and filter on the tranny?

Check the engine and transmission mounts as well. Onlt time I had this exact same problem I was missing a bolt on a transmission mount and the whole engine/transmission was tilted forward.
