'95 JGC - Power Steering Pump/Top middle idler
Going to work the other day, serpentine came off and was able to shut car off before it shut itself off! I had been having stiff steering in the mornings - neglected to replace PS pump and it had its revenge on me. Not sure if it caused the belt to come off or not, but when looking under the hood, the top idler (between the alternator and AC pulleys) was bent upwards. I pulled that off today, and the bolt was bent - the bearing housing on the idler was damaged. Gonna get a new one tomorrow - hopefully, the threads for that idler bolt aren't hosed! I'll also replace PS pump tomorrow and install new serpentine. Didn't see any oil on the stick, so will add some tomorrow so not sure if overheat damaged head gasket (milkshake oil). If so, that will be too much $ to fix. This puppy has 165,000 miles on it - I love driving it so it will be tough to donate/etc. and get rid of. Anybody have similar occurrence?
