sedans..

I am looking to buy something that is good on gas, reliable (a big one), and has good resale, because I plan to sell it in about 4 years after I'm done school to buy a Trans-Am. Some things I've been looking at are: Infiniti I35, Nissan Altima, Chevy Impala, and Toyota Camry. I'm comparing roughly 2002-2006ish models, and I can't really give an estimate price range because I'm in Canada and the prices are all higher and different (but if anyone's interested I'm spending $8000-$12000). From what I've read so far, is the Toyota has the reliability and resale, but is more $ to begin with, and I personally don't like as much as the Nissan, Chev, or Infiniti. The Chev I love because I am a GM guy, but the resale is what worries me. The Altima looks cool to me, and has some go to it (the 3.5), but I've read they aren't the most reliable...is this true? I always thought of Nissan as a reliable name. The Infiniti is the car I know the least about. If there's anyone who could offer some insight it would be greatly appreciated, I'm sort of sifting through all the information and trying to make a good choice, thanks.

If you buy a used Impala you won't take too big of a hit on depreciation. It's on the first few years where the depreciation is really bad.

Re: sedans..

This forum is dead. My last two responses went unanswered.

For the class of car you are looking at, I would stick to Honda or Toyota (even perhaps Acura and Lexus). I think reliability is a bigger factor when you are not looking at a performance car. They also have good resale value.

You can have your fun in your Trans- Am.

I think that's the best piece of advice one could give, and I've been trying to tell myself that. When I sold my Camaro I bought an offroad-capable SUV because it was fun, but I've already lost a lot of money by taking that road via resale and replacement parts. I think I'm going to go with a Toyota.
