01 trac light!

my 01 impala LS has been having the traction control light come on for months now, sitting at a stop light on brand new tar barely taking off, it will come on and turn off my ABS and traction control, and being that it is now winter i really would like to have my ABS. i was told that it may have been the hub bearings, so i replaced both in the front for about $100 a pop! it also has ABS in the back from what i have been told, what are he chances one of them went bad? or is there some other common problem i don't know about?

please give me your best help,
thank you,
IMPALA RACER

Re: 01 trac light!

There ABS Sensors in both front a rear wheels. I'd check the wiring harnesses on the front ones first before replacing the rear hubs. I've had problems many times, and still do have it kick off once in a blue moon, and it's caused by my passenger side harness.

Money could have been saved here by getting the abs scanned for codes and speed sensor inputs to pinpoint the problem area.

Re: 01 trac light!

Also, if you bought cheap Chinese made replacement hubs, they are known to be junk right out of the box. There is a known issue with the harness that goes to the passenger side front hub, so I agree with Max that you should have it scanned with an ABS capable scan tool before soaking more money into hubs.

Re: 01 trac light!

i have 2 other cars that are having the same issue currenly and i tried to scan them with my snap on motis to try and find codes, but it keeps failing to communicate wih the ABS systems. so with this being a common issue with all my cars i didn't bother to try an scan my impala maybe i will try this weekend, i have it put away for the winter, but slappin the battery back in it don't take to much.

thank you,
sincerely,

Re: 01 trac light!

An ordinary scanner without abs software or program will not work.
