1993 wagon cv boot joint passanger side!!

ok my mom has a 1993 wagon. for a while now I've noticed a clicking every time she turns the car. got the time to inspect it and it looks like the cv boot on the passanger side is torn. its been doing this for a while several months. I read up on the cv boot and some say just replace the boot others say replace the axle with all the stuff already on it.

I stuck my hand in the boot and found it had grease still in the boot, went and bought some hitemp grease and repacked it for now. it only clicks occasional now when she turns.

any advice. I'll be doing this myself so any install info would be great.

forgot to mention this car has 250,000 plus miles on it and its runs great.

If the grease stopped the clicking then I'd replace the boot for now. They have a boot that wraps around the joint so you don't have to remove it. My '93 wagon has 294,000 on it and has the original joint on the right side. I replaced the boot several years ago.

If you intend to keep the car much longer I would say to go ahead and splurge a bit and replace the whole axle, just because of the age and mileage. Replacing the boot might stop the clicking, but an axle replacement could prevent you from getting stranded on the road at some point with a busted joint. I don't think they cost a whole lot and they have a core value.
I'd do the axle though... but maybe that is just because I don't plan on dumping the car.

I agreed, I think I should do a complete axle replacemment. they are cheap say 70.00. does anyone know the spindle socket size of the nut on front of the axle? 32mm or what...

I may be wrong but I think I used 1-1/8 inch socket.

It's 32mm. You don't need the deep welled ones that you do on some cars. Any regular 32mm 6 sided socket should work (although an impact socket is preferred)
