extreme starting problems
i have a 1996 kia sportage 4x4 DOHC, 2.0. it takes about 8 seconds of turning over before it starts. sometimes it will start right up. when it is started it runs like a champ. i have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filters, relays, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and starter. it gets plenty of gas, i bench tested the plugs, and they are geting spark. and i have took the air filter out, and it is still doing it. it has always started, but yesterday was the first day it didnt start. i could really use some help, i dont know what else to do.

Is check engine light or malfuction light on? Have you checked the timing with a timing light? Try starting fluid and see if it starts then. How many miles on it and when was the timing belt last replaced? If it will not start you can check with autozone or other parts store where you can rent a scanning tool to get codes, you will need to pay a security deposit on it but shuld get full amount back when item is returned. Post any codes. |
