Injector cleaner?.....

I'm thinking about getting one of those OTC injector pressure cleaner canisters for use on my van with some Seafoam. Harbor Freight has "their" version for $85. Has anybody used these types of canisters, and do they actually do any good or is it all just a waste?

Re: Injector cleaner?.....

Wish I didnt spend the money on mine, I should have put it towards a fuel pressure gauge instead, turns out I had bigger problems than dirty injectors. What is the year of the van and what is the eighth digit in the vin? What are the symptoms your having that makes you think you need to invest in the cleaning kit?

Re: Injector cleaner?.....

It's a 2001, don't have the vin handy right now. Van has a slight knock under load and could be a little smoother on acceleration. I figured that kind of tool would be good for yearly maintenance.........

Re: Injector cleaner?.....

The $8 bottle of STP injector cleaner that you put in a full tank of gas is what I use once a year- I had acceleration issues once- would not shift into high gear- (engine not running fast enough)- dealer wanted to change the fuel pump that I had just put in one month prior because they said it pulled too many amps-(8 amps)- I pulled that van out of the Dealer- put a bottle of injector cleaner in it- and within ten minutes- the idle smoothed out and it ran and shifted fine- never to have that problem again...I also tested 5 other random vans for fuel pump amp draw- they all were 7-9 amps- so I knew the Dealer was dead wrong....
