98 Rodeo starting problem

I have a 98 Rodeo, 3.2 eng. AT. The shift cable is bad and has been on backorder from Isuzu for 5 months. Any suggestions on finding or making a cable would be appreciatated.
I have used baleing wire to hold the trunion together and stationary so the shifter will work.
The Haynes manual shows a steel cable adjuster on this car however the Rodeo has a plastic pinecone type of trunion and does not have an adjuster as shown.
Does anyone know how to adjust this cable ? I have replaced and adjusted the module and the care shifts great however to crank it, sometimes it will crank in Park and other times I have to move the shifter around, in and out of neutral until the solenoid catches. It will click over and over until it finally cranks up.

I will probably end up making or buying a generic cable and adapting it to the car. Any help or suggestions there would be appreciated.

check out St. Charles Isuzu (google for it or check the FAQs), they will have the part you need.

Re: 98 Rodeo starting problem

Been to every dealer and parts place in the US. The part is nationally backordered and Isuzu keeps extending the release date of the backorder. It has now been 5 months.................
