Window Tint
Ok so i want to tint my windows, but i'm not sure which percentage i want. In MA where i live, you can tint up to 35% on all of the windows "except windshield of course." So the question is, is 35% really dark? I'm looking for sort of a medium tint. And also, what will i need to tint my windows once i buy the tint? Another thing, does the tint go on the inside or outside?

2. I've never tinted my windows but I've seen it done. Basically some source of hot air like a hair dryer, something to clean the window and liquid to keep the window moist while cutting the tint adn while applying it. Most of the time I see people use a mixture of soap and water or some glass cleaner. Also a rubber squeegie (sp?) or something like a hard piece of plastic to remove the bubbles from the tint. 3. The tint goes on the inside. Lots of people do the cutting of the tint on the outside of the window I'm guessing because it's alot easier than wrestling with the tint on the inside of the car. 4. I've never installed tint so if anything above is wrong screw you. ![]() |

Re: Window Tint
Its different of course where you live, my tint although im sure you cant tell or not is 15% all around, but it looks like limo from some angles. the cops around here where i live are like nazis but i've never been bothered about it before. i was worried at first that it was too dark but ive had it like this since march of '07

Re: Window Tint
i think the max is 35% on side windows in mass. i had 20% on all the back windows of my ranger, which was an extended cab. and 25% on the side windows. i had been pulled over many times and never ticketed for the tint. it all depends on how picky the cops are in your area. 35% is like a lightly smoked look, which would be a light tint, you can make out features on the occupants of the vehicle, 25% is starting to get to the point you cant see details from a distance but can tell there is someone in the car.

Re: Window Tint
the tinit definitly goes on the INSIDE. if you remove the windows it makes it easier to tint. i always used a cheap snap-blade utility knife found at the dollar store taped to a bic pen to get an even cut around the outside edge. 35% is a decent tint. i used it on my honda accord and nobody said anything until a state trooper with an attitude made me peel it off right there but that was almost 2 years after i did it. make sure you clean the window throughly. and be patient. anything and i do mean anything left on the glass will show up on the outside and make a tint job look like crap!!!!!!! i know i've seen me do them numerous times.

Re: Window Tint
also remember that tint stacks so if your tint a stock window that has 95% tint in the glass, and say you put 35% the legal over it. when the cops use their little tester it's going to be illegal if the cop is a d**k about it.
