Complete: Tamiya 1/24 Toyota Cerumo Exiv JTCC

I originally bought this kit cheaply from eBay and unfortunately the decals were ruined. So the kit went to the bottom of the pile and I thought it would never get done. Then Shunko came to my rescue with direct replacements in their usual superb quality, so I could pull the kit back out and give it a go. Great news, as I haven't seen many builds online.

It’s mainly OOB, I added carbon fibre on the front splitter and door panels and there's some Bare Metal Foil around the windows. All the large red areas are masked and painted, the colours are TS-26 white, TS-49 bright red with TS-51 racing blue for the wheels.

A nice simple build, one of the mirrors had lost its mounting stalk so I replaced it with plastic rod, and the rear suspension nearly shattered when I fitted the wheels. Otherwise no problems.

On to the shelf it goes…

Cool, i just picked up the decals as well, didn't realize how much of the red you have to paint! yours looks great, thanks for sharing, I agree about not seeing these built.
That goes for all the JTCC kits, even at local shows.

Agreed that it is great to see these kits being built. I personally think that Tamiya's Touring Car kits of this era are some of the best kits made. Apart from lack of engine (generally) they are superbly detailed and look great when built. And yours is excellent!!

Fantastic transformation of an 'ordinaire' Corolla/Carina into a real racer look monster!
How often do we overlook these plebeian models without realising their potential?
