Rear Inner Tie Rod?

Took my 2000 LS to a tire shop for a 4 wheel alignment. Told me my "left rear inner tie rod" is bad. I've been unable to locate one at any parts place and when looking online can't find one by that name. I couldn't even find a rear tie rod noted on the exploded rear suspension diagram on the fordparts website. Anybody have an idea what they are talking about? My best guess is alignment rod but I'm not really sure how to check it myself. Nothing "looks" out of the ordinary under there but I don't know how to self-diagnose and the shop blew me off since I refused service there. I"ve replaced most of the front suspension myself (tie rod ends, arms, ball joints) but not sure how to handle this one on the rear. Thanks.

Re: Rear Inner Tie Rod?

They're probably referring to what the factory service manual lists as the rear toe link. According to the manual, the outer portion is not serviced separately, the entire assembly must be replaced. I'm not sure if the same applies to aftermarket parts.

We found this on my wife's LS shortly after we purchased it as a CPO used. I took the photos in and had the dealer replace these as I didn't feel a Certified car should have been sold with several damaged dust boots. They replaced all the parts I identified without issue so I'm not sure how difficult of a job it was.

For what it's worth, Fast Parts Network lists these as Item 6, rear Adjust Link for $120.71 each.

You probably need to replace the right one too.

Re: Rear Inner Tie Rod?

Thanks shorod and joegr that's is indeed the part. $100 a pop seems salty, I found them on ebay for about 60 but I learned that lesson with some shoddy ball joints a while back!
