Re: Ferrari colors
Thanks!
but you can see my problem here: ![]() This is what colour the Ferrari configurator THINKS that Blu Abu Dhabi is, and that Google search shows quite a few different colours. I want to order some of the colour above for my F12, but only if it IS actually that colour. There's not enough difference between the colour in your picture and the Blu Dino I already have to make it worth spending the money on getting a batch mixed up! bestest, M. |

Re: Ferrari colors
I wouldn't trust that Ferrari configurator. It looks nothing like Blu Abu Dhabi. I would go with pictures of the real car as your reference..

Re: Ferrari colors
Ah, Ferrari.
One would be hard pressed to find any other car manufacturer that through its entire production history has had a more conservative/pedestrian/boring color palette. Sure the cars are very petty- but the Lamborghini Miura alone was offered in a greater selection of interesting colors than the entirety of Ferrari's great stables.

Re: Ferrari colors
Mattbacon, to solve your problem, I would spray a test card with the Blu Dino that you already have, using exactly the same steps that you would use for your model (primer, base color, clear coat), I would go to the nearest Ferrari dealer and I would put that test card on one of these color samples here below:
![]() I really can't figure out a better way to solve your problem. |

Re: Ferrari colors
Thanks for trying! All I'm really trying to do is figure out whether to bother spending £10 on getting some Blu Abu Dhabi made up by Hiroboy for my F12 when it comes. I actually really like the dark blue-green colour in the Ferrari configurator, and the 1/18th custom model link you posted earlier, and that's the colour I'd like to paint my F12. Unfortunately, looking at the images of other cars that may or may not be Blu Abu Dhabi (the Google search is a bit hit and miss...), it's hard to tell whether it IS actually a rich blue-green or not -- it's clearly very dependent on the lighting. What I need to do, as you and Mr Noble pointed out, is see a REAL F12 in Blue Abu Dhabi, in natural local daylight! Sadly, my "local" Ferrari dealers are in Leeds or Cheshire, so I can't just "pop in", and while we have a few Ferraris round here, none of them are F12s or blue in any way (though I have seen a 360 Spider in Azzuro California in my local supermarket car park, once)
I might just bite the bullet and order the paint anyway... I can alway homebrew my own colour by adding some British Racing Green if it's not what I want! bestest, M. |
