98 dakota gas gauge

I recently acquired a 98 dakota sport with 3.9 ltr v6. 82000 miles.
The gas gauge acts up 8 gals shows akmist full 5 gallons show half a tank
the fuel pump has been replaced at one time this has been going on since this was replaced. When it gets to apprix 3/8 of a tank in less than 15 miles it shows empty abd low fuel light has been on for a while. Is there sonething i can do to fix this priblem

Sounds like a bad sending unit and that is in the fuel tank.
