Fusible link to wire connection

I need to replace the fusible link at the starter post to the alternator. How do I connect the new link (12 guage) to the exisiting wire (8 guage)? They didn't have a pre-made link with eye and connector around here. All I could find was a spool of 12 guage link.

Thanks.

Re: Fusible link to wire connection

I ended up using a piece of telescoping brass tubing. I stripped off about 3/4" of an inch insulation from both the wire and the fusible link, put the piece of brass tubing on the thicker wire, placed the bare fusible link wire over the regular wire then centered the brass tubing over both pieces and cripped it with a pair of channel locks. Seems to have worked. Thanks for looking.
