01 Taurus 3.0 DOHC AC compressor oil

Hi everyone. I have embarked on changing out my compressor whioch is leaking. Read many posts on this and other forums and incountered all the obstacles everyone talked about but got the silly thing out of the car finally (a pox on all car designers!!) Anyway everything I've read says to pour about 4 ounces of new refrigerant oil into the compressor before installing but the guy at autozone gave me a can of charge oil which is oil mixed with refrigerant. I'm a little wary of doing it this way because I don't want to sieze the compressor before the oil has a chance to get to it. What does everyone think. Is it ok to do it this way.
By the way the compressor was just leaking but did not sieze. Do I really have to replace the dryer/accumulator or can I get away with leaving the old one in. I have all the open ports plugged to keep air out of the system. If not doing it will ruin the new compressor then I'll do it but if I can get away with not doing it it would be a cheaper job. Tomorrow I want to start putting everything back together.
Thanks

If it makes you feel safer, pour the oil in. Will the parts store warranty the compressor if you don't replace certain parts, such as your dryer, along with the compressor?

You know what, I didn't ask. Probably should have. Need to read the paperwork that came with it.

you should be fine with just the compressor replacement. some compressors come with oil already and it would be stated on a sticker on it. you can do it either way with the oil charge or direct pour of the oil. make sure you evacuate the system for 35-40 min before you charge it..

Thanks. I went ahead and filled the compressor with 2.0 ouncers of oil, installed it, got evrything back together (a small miracle for me) evacuated the saystem for a hour, did a leak down test ((system seemed to be holding) Started the car up. no coolant leaks (another small miracle) charged the system. Compressor cycling normally. Nice cold air!! Wait what's that hissing noise. Turned the car off. Went looking. Lo and behold there's a leak in the pipe containing the low preessure port that goes from the firewall to the accumulator!! Back to square one. wonder what that is going to cost me.
