Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
This will be a speed build, I only have 3 weeks to the Group Build deadline.
![]() The body is sanded smooth and primed. Nothing much to do before applying the first layer of paint except some cleaning in the rims. Well done Tamiya, one of the main reason I like to build Tamiya kit OOB is that you will enjoy the whole process without disappointment. ![]() ![]() Test fit the head lights... so far OK ![]() sprayed with Gaiya gloss black ![]() 1st layer of Ruby Red Pearl ![]() 2nd layer of Ruby Red Pearl ![]() ![]() 3rd layer of Ruby Red Pearl |

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
![]() Heavily "smoked" head lights base ![]() Original rims and custom Pale Gold Rims I found that the pearl red on black looks pinkish, so I added some metallic red to the pearl mixture and spray another layer ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Although the outcome isn't the actual color in my mind but it turn out being a stunning color that I decided to maintain it. The main technique of spraying pearl coat is a thin 2:8 paint:thinner ratio + 10% of clear. After finish, I felt that I should keep it matt, this so far the best matt color I've ever spray. |

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
![]() Hand-brush the throttle body with red (acrylic) ok, finally completed the engine compartment, nothing extra, just purely OOB. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Interior done ![]() Latest status, These are my progress of 4 working nights. Thanks for viewing. |

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
Almost done on this baby, but still have some problems to solve...
![]() the emblems on Ferrari are stick-on type, so I'm trying to convert decals to stickers. First by using H20 overcoat to brush on the decals, creating a bulge. ![]() believe or not, this is the first time I use kit-provided masking tape, it's much more easy compared with doing it your own. I apply some soapy water on the clear parts before sticking the masking tapes on it so that I can still adjust the mask after applying. ![]() Disaster!! extra thin cement flow to clear parts.... what can I do? need help here. ![]() This is the only con on this "almost perfect kit", there's sink holes on four corners of the rear clear parts. |

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
Good job on the color combo, the rims suit the theme well also. Sorry to see the glue-thing, I bet you can solve it somehow!

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
janositamas,
thanks, since it's bit hard to recover that I planned to "carbonize" that part. and here's some small progress ![]() Decals applied on the caliper ![]() the sink holes were sanded smooth with grid 400 sandpaper ![]() result after 800, 1000, 2000, 3000, 6000, 8000 ![]() final polishing with Tamiya polishing compound, coarse, fine and finishing ![]() final result. |

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
Making of my signal lights.
![]() first, I heathen a clear sprue and strech to the desire diameter, personally I prefer Tamiya clear sprue as it's more compact and still looks very clear after stretched ![]() then I I heat up the tip, till it becomes rounded, this took some practice, just cut off the sprue if the shape is not nice ![]() cut out, I did extra for my future build ![]() painted the inner with clear orange ![]() end result. Thanks for viewing. |

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
nice work. shade looks like burgundy red
![]() regarding the cement seeping onto the clear, you could try to polish it out as well. did mine on a GT-R's headlamp cover, worked.

Re: Ferrari 360 Modena Spider
Corvettekid,
Thanks euro_z The red pearl is fron Gunze aka Mr Color GX series, a Japanese brand. nugundam93 A friend of mine said it's called Midnight Garnet, Infiniti & Ford has this color. For the clear part, I planned to "carbonize" it, already spray black now. |
