Torque spec for front wheel hub 99 4x4 Tahoe

I have a howeling in the front end and the ABS lights on. So I need to replace the front wheel bearing assembly. My truck is a 1999 Tahoe 2 Dr 4x4 just need to know what the axle nut torque specification is. I don't want to guess these Timkin bearings are not cheap. Also any tips to doing the job would be appreciated.

The axle nut is 165 lbs. ft. Its a pretty straight foreward job, the hubs may be stuck in the knuckle, so it may take a little "persuasion" to get them out.

Re: Torque spec for front wheel hub 99 4x4 Tahoe

I agree that the torque should be about 165 ft lbs. never use a air gun on the bearing/hub nut.

timken is what is recommended. I got my hubs at autozone .

removal in the rust belt is a problem. the hub is rusted into place you will need a chisel with a tapered edge to pry off the hub and using a good penitrating oil to help it slide off. the top stud is a little tough to remove. as the hub begins to come out you can then remove the top stud.

after the hub is removed clean the seating area for the hub , remove any loose/ rusted metal. you may need to replace the heat shield if you did not take care , in the hub removal process.

I used antiseize here in this area where the hub seats , to help in future removals.
do not use antiseize on the hub nut !

The first time I did this replacement I used some cheap hubs. 75.00 with 2 year warrantee. after 18 months I had a failure . the hubs came off very easy. I got my cash back then got the timkens.

before installing measure the sensor output voltage . rotate the hub by hand at a good rate you should get more than .4volts AC.............
