3.1 engine swap question

Does anyone know if the 2000 3.1 engine is a series 2 or series 3 engine or are all 3.1 the same?? WIll the 2000, 3.1 engine fit in a 98 (both century's) without any modifications.

Thanks

Re: 3.1 engine swap question

your 98 is a Vin-M 3100, the 2000 is a Vin-J 3100. There are many differences in the two, so it will not be a direct swap. Differences include but are not limited to the throttle body, upper plenum, lower intake manifold, and many of the various sensors. I haven't personally attempted this swap, so I'm not sure what modifications to the 98 wiring harness would be necessary to do it.
