Tail lights sticking on

Posting here because for some reason the site won't let me post under Tech How To area

1994 Olds Bravada. My taillights r sticking on with key off. (I have to unhook the negative cable from my battery every time I need to turn off the vehicle). Found wires above the break pedal (took off panel under steering wheel). Wiggling them affects the lights. I can wiggle the break pad itself, or lift it up and down, and the lights will go out, but if touched just the slightest bit, they stay on again. I can't see the switch good enuf to know how to replace it (I can feel it; I think that is what it is. I pushed on it and heard a click as though it got pushed back into place. I don't feel comfortable pulling on it anymore until I can see pic or get instructions). Chilton pic and instructions bad. Napa said it might be the break switch OR the headlight switch, they weren't sure. They explained the difference but it didn't make sense to me. But considering I have explained which wires are affecting the lights when I touch them, that should help deciphering which it is. I hope.

Can anyone direct me to pics and instructions on how to replace the, I am assuming, the break switch (considering the switch is attached to the break pedal area).

If brake lights staying on it is your breake light switch or switch adjustment or wires bad.

Is this the big black box switch?
If so get one and you can look at it and see how it clips on brake pedal.
Try adjusting switch if it has a adjustment or pulling back on brake pedal.
Sometimnes brake pedal does not come ll way back.
Any free travel in brake push rod?

THE BEST OF PICTURES OR INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE FOUND IN a ON LINE ALL -DATA DIY REPAIR INFO SUB.

As I said, I can't see anything but wires coming out of what might be the switch which is hidden under a horizontal metal black bar under the brake pedal bar ?push rod?

I also don't know what you mean by ON LINE ALL -DATA DIY REPAIR INFO SUB. Can you give me a link for an example?

http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html

It is a online All Data DIY repair program.
But it will cost you.
1 year one vechical subscription around 24.95 usa dollars.
But wort its weight in gold if it saves you money on repair.
10 minutes with a plastic card and you are set to diy it.

The brake light switch you just have to dig in there and find it.
You may have to remove some splash panels and stuff to get to it.
The all data sub should take you threw the operation.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes.
