Re: Have any of you ever given up?

I gave up on my Tamiya Mobil1 NSX. Building the car was fine, couldnt be happier with it, but as soon as I laid the first couple of decals on it I instantly put it back in the box and never touched it to this day. Most of the decals ripped, or have split and I dont want to look at another waterslide decal! I'm planning on scrapping the decals for the car, removing the ones Iv'e already laid, and turning it into a road-going version.

I dont know if its me, but the waterslide decals are really thin and break extremely easily?

Re: Have any of you ever given up?

I was @ final assembly stage on this build and the glue bled through onto the paint.(And I had glue "flick" onto the rear window, I was going cover w/a decal) I haven't trashed it but can't decide if I want to try and save it or just use the interior/chassis on my other MKV GTI I'd planned on building in another style.

I've def got other builds that are indefinatly stalled. can't say I'll ever get back to them with how little time for kit building I have.

Re: Have any of you ever given up?

I get alot these days. And I think I going to dump alot of my past work away these few days. Although I still keep a number of models and hopefully I could make a come back, but currently I think I lost my 'mojo' in scale modeling, yes not only in cars and bikes, but also my sci-fi and resin kit modeling, if not I would not give away most of my models to some AF members here.

Re: Have any of you ever given up?

I'm practically in the stage of 'given up' right now. I have around 5 builds I've half built and put on hold. Uni work has been intense and having some time now to do some modelling again, I'm a little reserved about starting a new kit incase I give up on that too. With the news of AFMOTY I've picked up an itchy trigger-finger for my airbrush but I seem to be mainly collecting boxes rather than building them!

Re: Have any of you ever given up?

I prefer the term "indefinite hiatus". It somehow softens the blow and prevents me from doing something rash (like throwing something away). I have actually gone back and completed a few models I had given up on years before. The Indian motorcycle and Lotus 25 in my signature photo's were on "indefinite hiatus" for years before I cracked them open for a second go. Over time a modelers skills improve and once common kits become rare and expensive. That can breath new enthusiasm into a dormant project. Sometimes a close encounter with the real thing can regenerate interest too. I currently have a Gunze HiTech Jaguar E-Type on "indefinite hiatus". I pull it out of the box once a year and think about all the crappy work that has to be redone on it. Then I slip it back in the box and forget about it for another year.
