DOM v ERW tubing

How do you tell the difference between the 2? Does anyone know the serial numbers involved for which cars had ERW v DOM?

Apparently SCCA requies DOM? Does anyone know whether that is the case for SVRA, HSR, etc?

Thanks.

Re: DOM v ERW tubing

The erw will have a seam along it's length. Erw starts out life as a flat strip. It is run thru a series of rolls and formed into a tube. It is then welded. Erw= electric resistance weld.

Thanks. I stripped some paint and my car is ERW. That must be why I can't pass Pomroy.

Apparently SVRA allows ERW cars to run. Old school.

Re: DOM v ERW tubing

Yep -- that's the issue with the some of the school cars -- most all sanctioned bodies now require DOM.

Sorry man!

Re: DOM v ERW tubing

No worries, I still love it. A few guys have expressed interest saying they are interested in SCCA stuff. Others for track days. If it doesn't sell I'll take it to PBIR next month for an event. Then I might smack myself.
