Code P0001??? Please help ASAP!
Hey everyone. My 2000 Windstar has been stalling every once in awhile when idling. The P0001 code came up today at the auto parts store, as well as the 171/174 lean bank codes. Those two have been there awhile actually.
Anyway, there is a HORRID high pitch squeal that sounds like it would be the belt but I know it can't be. We had the same problem 6 years ago, and from everything I remember and have researched today it looks like the prob. is the Cam Shaft Synchronizer (sensor). The squeal generally starts out as a squeak, kinda like a mouse! It gets really bad and louder right before it stalls. The code does not say it is the Cam Shaft Synch. as the code for that is a P0340. That code did not show up, but I still strongly suspect this is the problem. I am a total novice, and probably will not be fixing this myself, but wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I have to have my winny for work, so I would appreciate any help soon! Thanks! |

Hi, check all vaccums and hoses.
P0171 and / or P0174 are almost always caused by a vaccum leak, NOT a oxygen sensor. P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open Check the pressure of your fuel pump, did you change your fuel filter recently? |

We all need to fix problems as they come up ... that screeching synchronizer would be first on my list (all it takes is a little oil ... but do your homework) ... then the intake leakage.
