94 Cavalier AC/Heat problem....
Help- I've search the threads and posts and can't find my exact problem!
When the ac is turned on you can hear the fan running- it changes from low to high and you can hear the different speeds- but the air flow coming out of the vents is almost nothing- it does feel cool- but you can hardly feel it. When you switch to defrost it does come out the top and it gets alittle stronger- the heat seems to be the same way. We checked the hoses and they seem fine, and the fan is working.... Any suggestions greatly appreciated....

Re: 94 Cavalier AC/Heat problem....
I would check the ac condencer behind the glove box near the blower motor they get clouged and will restrict the air flow

Re: 94 Cavalier AC/Heat problem....
maybe mechanism for switching the vents is not opening/closing right. I haven't checked this car, but I assume this model is mechanical only. Others higher end cars have vacuum operated vents. Loose or leaking lines caused the air to not be directed where you think.

Re: 94 Cavalier AC/Heat problem....
Well the "door" was open- we closed that and it didn't make a difference for the vents in front or the defrost, but I do feel a small amount on the floor now....ran out of day light- will check duct work tomorrow. The air is going somewhere- just can't figure out where-
Thanks for the suggestions! |

Re: 94 Cavalier AC/Heat problem....
Well we are at a loss....no clogs we could find- or lose or off hoses! Vacumm lines seem to be all connected and working. Put a new blower motor on just to rule that out... that was advice from a friend- it was only $20 so what the he$$- didn't make a difference. Condensor looked ok.. Got another friend that is gonna look at it this week- if no luck I guess it's pay someone to find the problem- can't have my kid driving it with no heat or defroster this winter! Can't think of anything else to check

Re: 94 Cavalier AC/Heat problem....
I think my husband took the air compressor and blew them out...I'll check! He did get some leaves and debris, but didn't seem to make a difference. The blower motor did come with a new wheel, seems like the defroster is a bit stronger, and I had the heat on this morning I think that is stronger now, but when it's on the a/c there is hardly any air. This was the first morning it was cool enough to actual feel the heat coming out....most of the time it's been 90+ degrees when we are working on it! Got a mechanic friend looking at it tomorrow- will post an update!
