99 saturn sl goes wide open

Hey, Im new here so go ez please. My 99 sl when started would idle at about 2000 rpm , no codes. replaced the maf sensor on the intake, no change. replaced Iac and now it idles at 4000 rpm, any one had something simular?

I had this problem with my 96 saturn change intake gasket it quit it was sucking air in the corner near the power steering pump

I'm assuming you meant to say "MAP" (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor as the S-Series never had a MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. Check your vacuum hoses and make sure the clamps on your air intake are tight. Your throttlebody may need to be cleaned too. Just spray some throttlebody cleaner (do NOT use carb cleaner) around the throttle plate and make sure it closes all the way. It very well could be a bad intake gasket as they do fail quite often on the SOHC engines. Spray some throttlebody cleaner around the base of the intake and if the idle changes your intake manifold gasket is bad.

If your engine coolant temp sensor has the plastic tip you should replace it with a newer, brass tipped sensor too. It is a cheap part that causes all kind of weird things to happen when it fails. It is located on the driver's side of the cylinder head.
