2002 Rear Knuckle Bushing Replacement
2002 CXL 3.4L 126k
I found that my driver side rear knuckle bushing is worn/wearing out. Has anyone replaced this item? Does it involve removing the rear knuckle completely? Has anyone found a place on the internet to buy at a reasonable cost? Autozone has them for $65. gmpartsdirect does not offer them. Why is this darn part so expensive...come on..aluminum..rubber..its not a rocket part or anything special LOL!!! |

Re: 2002 Rear Knuckle Bushing Replacement
Just had one replaced on my 03. Dorman makes the bushing and it can be found at Carquest for about $30-35. Yes, the knuckle has to come off. You will need a press tool to get the old bushing out and put the new one on.

Re: 2002 Rear Knuckle Bushing Replacement
Press tool????? More like a P-R-E-S-S... I took both knuckles to work and got one out with a 2-ton DAKE press. The other would not budge. I ended up going to a 3 ton press and was litterally hanging off of the arm. It would not move. Going to use the hydraulic press for this last one. Its not to bad to take off and replace the item. Definitely will recommend that if doing this job use the opportunity to replace any rear end items...for example...hub assembly, brakes, rotors, any other rear suspension parts. I'll update on monday how the other bushing comes out....
