Airbag Light Issues

Had to replace my steering wheel, 2 in chunk of foam missing, to pass my states inspection. I purchased a new steering wheel. I disconnected the battery, disconnected both yellow airbag plugs, took out the airbag fuse. I installed the wheel and hooked everything back up. I now have a constant airbag light on in the dash. Is there a way to clear this, do i need to cycle the key a certain amount of times ? I disconnected the battery cables and let it sit for 1 1/2 hours, light is still on. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If you let the steering shaft turn when shaft was disconnected you destroyed your clock spring.

Clock springs and steering shaft should be disconnected and installed with the steering gear centered.

The only way to get the light off is to read out SIR codes and repair for the code.

Pull Sir codes and post back code no.for more help.

Did you use your old air bag or the one with new steering wheel?

Get codes and post back code no>

Re: Airbag Light Issues

Took the steering wheel airbag back out, the lock on the plug hadn't locked the plug into the bag. Reinstalled the bag and the light is now out. If i could get paid for stupidity, i would be rich by now lol.

Re: Airbag Light Issues

I have done things like that to.
Like they say you can always blame it on the last person that worked on it.
Thanks for posting back how it went.
Good luck
