Re: Hot camaro

If you're running the stock electric cooling system, the fan isn't signaled to come on until 225-230. You can buy an adjustable fan switch and lower the on temp.

Re: Hot camaro

Is the black plastic air dam still in tact or possible missing from underneath the car, I agree with wright, get a lower temp fan switch, most guys run a 180.

Re: Hot camaro

Our cars run hot from the factory, so 220 to 235 is about normal in city stop and go traffic. I upgraded all of my cooling parts last year on my IROC and my fans worked after that along with the fact that my car has never overheated since. It used to overheat alot before that.

But I run a 195F t-stat which is the factory temperature for my car and I normally run at between 200F and 220F without worries. If your fans are cutting on then your car won't overheat and you have nothing to worry about. Even in high performance use my car runs pretty cool with my cooling parts but having all of that heat build up underneath the hood with nowhere to really go (since heat rises up) does hurt performance. Get a cowl hood for extra cooling power if you'd like.
