cost of new A/C

What is a fair quote for replacing an A/C unit for an Olds 88 1994. I have been quoted prices as high as 1200.00. I do not want to be ripped off. Any help would be appreciated!!

Re: cost of new A/C

Welcome to AF, exactly what is being done, there is no blanket procedure to " replace" the ac.

Re: cost of new A/C

At this point the only thing said to me was that the bearing in the ac was going out....but of course what does that mean. To me it means that I have to buy a new compressor and replace the coolant etc and that the job would cost me at least 1200 to get it done on the Olds 88.

Re: cost of new A/C

If all you need is the cmpr. ft bearing this is way overpriced!! Get another estimate.
