Ball Joints
Outer Tie Rod Ends

Replaced Knocking/ Locked up engine
Light bulbs in Stereo faceplate
Installed an aftermarket remote start because factory RKE was toast
(I am not worried about maint stuff like plugs/plug wires.)

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

On our 99 when we had it:
1. LIM gaskets (under warranty) around 26k
2. Water pump around 90k
3. Cracked exhaust manifold around 150k

On our 04 we have now:

Nothing, van currently at 76k.

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

2002 Montana 117k:
A/C condenser - Bad when I bought the van at 80k. (dealer paid for the condenser, I put it in)
Broken exhaust manifold studs 2 on front manifold luckily. (I think they may have done head gaskets on this van and overtightened the manifold bolts, they also left the egr pipe out of the rear exhaust manifold (sounded loud, but got great mileage: over 30mpg)
Right Front Hub, left rear hub (lr was ABS issue, RF was bad bearing) I noticed now the LF hub bearing is loose. No noise yet, but will be replaced soon.
Radio lights
Rear heat temp door motor

That's all I can think of right now. Overall, easy repairs and a better riding, driving and stopping van you will not find. I drive and repair a lot of different vans for customers of mine and I have to say the GM line of vans is by far the best driving/riding of them all. Not necessarily the easiest to work on (that goes to the Dodge caravans of the early 2000's) but the rest makes up for it.

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

Yeah, plugs on my mother in laws Caravan 3.0l were a PITA.

I do like working on the Chev stuff over the other brands, maybe I am more familar with it (I grew up in a Chevy Dealership). I love the way mine handles/ drives after the ball joints and tie rod ends that I had to replace, but it is always something (241k miles). :-)

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

Wheel bearings
Outer tie rods
Oil pump (not as easy as it sounds... look in your haynes)
Upper and lower intake gaskets
Water pump x3
timing cover gasket
Gas tank straps
Fixed rocker panels
sliding door motor
Front washer pump
Multiple door panels clips. I finally ended up running sheet metal screws through the panels and into the door itself 2 years ago
199,000 miles now, but knocks a little.

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

Gees, where do I start? 1999 Chevrolet Venture SFI 3.4l Auto 193k (Purchased new in 11-98:
Replaced engine @ 144k. Used engine w/ approx 45k on it
LIM (on replaced engine)
Head Gaskets (on replaced engine)
Rear Shocks
#2 Fuel Injector (on replaced engine) bad diagnosis by former mechanic
Water Pump
Heater Core
Wire junction box/connector beneath driver's seat
Front and rear brakes at least 2 times
Fuel pump(wrong decision, was connector problem (found later by other mechanic)
O2 Sensors
Drivers power window motor
Repaired corroded power lock wires under pass side carpet
Rear Hatch pull strap
Front Wheel bearings, both sides
Tie rods, both sides
PCU Module, although SES light was due to bad wire at that junction box/connector
*Light bulbs in Stereo faceplate need to be replaced, all have blown out
*Wipers do not park anymore (still work, so I haven't replaced the motor)
*Drivers side window regulator is going, window goes up crooked
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Lamps for the radio, takes about 10, so 5 packs would get ya, I had to replace some in my HVAC control head also, about 8-10 there also.

The metal window regulator is available $10-$20 at www.rockauto.com

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

fanta2, *Drivers side window regulator is going, window goes up crooked

just spray some silicone in the window tracks, just a thought

2000 venture
At 48k replaced engine and then downhill from there

back windsheild wiper motor

my rocker panels were completely gone at 120k
windshield 2x
rear taillight assembly on the driver side 2x, then found plug to be the problem
right now I have #2 cylinder code and air entering my antifreeze, a head gasket for sure.. So I'm going to try a good flush and some barsleak and go to the green (deathcool is all junked up, again!!) and see if I can get the summer out of it..
probably other things that I am forgetting
Other than that, its a good van with 144k on it

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

Thanks Lesterl. Had the radio out once and tried to get the faceplate off, couldn't really figure it out, didn't want to break it, so I just put the radio back in. You have any instructions to remove the faceplate from the radio body?

Re: Just for FUN, what Repairs have you DONE?

Ya gotta pull the top of the radio off, pull the nutts off the tune and vol knobs, pull all the knobs, pull the wires, pull the few screws holding on, then you have to pull a bunch of very small screws with like 4.5mm heads out of the board to get it off the faceplate.

P.S. may be a few things left out as it has been awhile..... If I ever do another I will post a writeup.
