2000 cluster stays on

I have a 2000 tahoe LT and when i turn the vehicle off and shut all the doors when the int. delay lights go off the gauge cluster turns on. The fuel and temp. go up about half way and stay on killing my batt. in a couple of days i was told it was the security system if so how do i turn it off. I just bought the truck and its a pain to have to jump it all the time.

the first thing to do is fully charge the battery and get it load tested.,,clean the battery terminals ....check for bad wire connections/grounds ,cable corrosion etc...

with the engine running and at normal temp after you have driven it for several miles measure the voltage at the battery should be 13.75vdc..within 1/2 volt +/-....

engine off hook up an ammeter in series with the battery ground connection ..the current should be 100ma or less..if it is above this start pulling fuses to locate the circuit that is the problem..

any aftermarket equiptment/wiring is suspect...

testing is required to solve these problems ...cluster indicator movement is not an issue of battery draining ...this is normal..
