Possible Short
Ok. I recently replaced my starter (another thread) and finally got it working correctly. Shortly after starting up my Malibu I get the battery light on the dash. I disconnected the battery with the car on several times and it shuts off. I removed the alternator and got it tested at Autozone and Oreillys and they both tell me its good. I brought back the alternator reinstalled it and tried the same test. Same result, car shut off. Despite what Autozone and Oreilly's said, I bought the dang alternator anyways. Installed that, and same problem. Light pops up on dash. Disconnected the battery and engine immediately shuts down. Could it be a possible short somewhere????
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Possible Short
your diagnostics are messed up. Diagnose the light. unhooking the battery tells you nothing really, that is 1950 auto repair tech. get on the zones website and get a schematic for your car. check the battery connections and have it load tested, most problems are there....

Re: Possible Short
Well the battery is only about 6 months old, so I really doubt that it's that. I guess I should check the schematics and see what I can find.
Thanks for your help.
