Re: my tire is stuck

I know one way that works. Not sure if it is recommended.
Back off the lug nuts a little and drive the truck until it breaks free. It should not take very far.

loosen the lug nuts two turns,,,,, then driving a few feet and turning the steering wheel left /right will loosen the rim from the hubs...when ever you have alloy wheels you need a small amount of antiseize compound on the hub area ...

do not get any lube/antiseize on the lug studs...

you can get injured or damage the vehicle if you try to hammer/sludge off the wheel ...especially when on a jack ...

Re: my tire is stuck

This happens to mechanics all the time,we just don't see how they remove the tire. I tend to watch every time my vehicle is in there. It doesn't happen to me as I lube the mating surfaces of the rim to rotor, drum etc. They take a large hammer and tap firmly on the rim, just outside of where the lug nuts are.As they tap they are moving around the rim.If you have alloy rims, you can only soak the area with penetrating lube and hope it frees up.
If your stuck, bring it to your shop and watch them...

Re: my tire is stuck

so here is my solution. i jacked her up. took lug nuts loose. sprayed with pb breaker. then took a short 2x4 and put it against the lip of rim and tapped with a 2lb hammer. then switched to opposite side. came right off. thanks to everyone for their tips.

Re: my tire is stuck

We have a 10lb plastic sledge at the shop that does the trick.

Re: my tire is stuck

happens to me all the time(only mechanic in a 3 bay shop) sometimes you can kick it, theres been a few steel wheels that we had to heat up. But as far as alloy, we've gone as far as getting a small piece of 2x4 setting it on the rim and hitting it with about a 10lbs sledge. I've heard of just barely loosening your lugs and lowering it to the ground and shaking the vehicle back and forth to break them loose but never tried it.

Re: my tire is stuck

ive seen a few cars with stuck wheels. normally a dead blow hammer works or a rubber mallet smack to back of wheel or tire a few times always worked for me
