92 jetta breaking alternator belts
I have a 92 jetta diesel 5 speed turbo that has broken 5 or 6 alternator belts in less than 2 years. The last one was put on just 2 months ago when I had a new alternator put on. The mechanic who replace this last one said the belt was extremely dry for being so new. Can someone tell me what is causing these belts to last just a few months?

What type of belt wear is the belt getting? Does it look brand new? He said that your belt looked really dry, does it go close to the turbo and get baked day in and day out?
