This is the golden age. As someone who doesn't shy away from big, overborn conversions and modifications, I am really happy with what we've got in the way of transkits. I don't buy any (to be fair) but along with transkits comes a wealth of aftermarket parts - enough to make the 1:1 aftermarket blush sometimes. Just ten years ago all you could find were some turned aluminum parts and PE sets that only had one layer, and very little of that.

Now you can find very sophisticated PE for just about anything that comes out - that's great! You can find wheels for just about anything - awesome! You can find resin seats, dashboards, you name it, it's out there. We have so many options now, I'm in hog heaven. I have some rudimentary resin skills, but no machining or PE skills or tools, and not very good scratchbuilding skills. Nevertheless, I can make models that I feel are worthwhile. It still takes skill to make things look nice, but long gone are the days where we had to use thread for sparkplug wires and felt for interiors.

This is the golden age.
