PT Cruiser Lug Nut
I took my PT to Sam's today to get new tires. They broke off one of my lug nuts. Is this a repair that I can make? If so, what is the procedure?
Thank You |

Re: PT Cruiser Lug Nut
If the broke a stud its as easy as removing the wheel, the caliper. the rotor, and then hammer out the broken stud. insert the new stud and suck it into the hub with the lug nut. A couple of washers in between the lug and hub might help.

Re: PT Cruiser Lug Nut
nope! talk to the manager and get them to agree to cover the cost of having it replaced by a professional tire shop or the dealer, they broke it and they can fix it or reimburse you for the professional service.
but yes you can replace it yourself if that's what you really want to do. |

Re: PT Cruiser Lug Nut
Just curious, front o back. You should be-able to buy a new one and pop the other off with a hammer. Good luck, Wayne

Re: PT Cruiser Lug Nut
Ps. Don't think with your Dip stick. Actually, check the net, use common sense and you will do just fine. The repair person should fix it. Wayne

Who's to say that the shop before them isn't the one that messed it up? I couldn't tell you how common it is to get cars in with all kinds of lug/stud issues. If it broke when they where removing it than its not there fault. They where trying to remove it and had no control over what has happened to that stud over the years! If it broke when they where installing the lug nuts than I agree that they should have taken care of it. Its a couple bucks and 10 minutes of there time to keep you. Well worth it in my opinion.
