Tranny Problem
Hi all
I’m new here, I have a 2000 Bonneville with the 3800 NA and I believe the 4T65-E transmission car has 136,000 km. The problem I am having is the car accelerates very slow in forward gears, The engine is revving up at around 1800 to 2200 rpm then starts to move. Reverse gear works just fine. I am also getting a code P1860. The fluid is nice and red and topped up. The car has sat for about 3 years in a garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ed |

Re: Tranny Problem
Welcome to AF, sounds like it is starting in 3rd or default. Could be an issue with the solenoid pack.

Re: Tranny Problem
Thanks for the reply maxwedge
Is the solenoid pack located behind the side cover? Could they be sticking from the car sittiing for the last 3 years. Any advice on what to try next. Thanks again Ed |

Re: Tranny Problem
Have you changed the tranny fluid after sitting that long?? I suggest that you use the Seafoam Tranny additive to see if that helps. I used it on a chrysler tranny that would hesitate to shift into forward or rev erse from par or neutral, added and never had a problem after that. I would drive it after adding for a few miles and if works drain fluid and change filter. I am sure some will disagree with this but my thoughts.

Re: Tranny Problem
Yes behind the side cover, first check for a properly seated plug at the trans itself, could be some corrosion, then a full scan with a trans function scanner can command the solenoids and get a proper diagnosis.
