the tahoe usually comes with the 5.3L engine ...this is the standaed size ...also they usually have 4WD ...with 2wd you will have a little better mileage and less componets to maintain...
with these vehicles you must replace transmission fluids/filter every 30,ooo-40,000 mi...also the GM APPROVED dexcool needs replacing with distilled water only every 3-4yrs...AT THE MINIMUN OF 50% DEXCOOL ..I use 65% dexcool, this is to control corrosion ...these engines will get corroded then the leaks !
replacing the fuel filter every 30,ooo mi / and keeping the fuel tank above 1/4 at all times prevents fuel pump failures..
you should expect 17-19 mpg on hywy with the 2wd...16-18 with the 4wd..
the 2wd driverside spring usually needs replacement ...common issue ..
these are heavy vehicles you will need a 5.3L engine...unless your not gonna drive around where there are hills/mountains...you got plenty where you live !
