Today I was asked what should have been an easy question to answer but due to a total blind-spot in my knowledge I hadn't a clue what the answer was.
The question was do Mclaren build their own engines or are they built by an outside supplier.?
OK I know as do most others that the F1's legendary V12 was designed and built by BMW Motorsport, but I had no idea who builds the V8 range of engines used since the F1.
So can anyone enlighten me as to whether the current V8 engines are Mclaren built / Designed or sourced from a specialist engine builder?
