Re: I've Split the Case - Now I'm Confused

Very nice photos that you've posted. Nice work....

How did you lift the Manual Transmission out of the car's engine compartment ?
I'm 65 and a mountain of hard muscle (lol) so I'm interested in how to do that part w/o
having a hemorrhoid pop.
Pictures of you taking it out/putting it back in would be nice....

If you "pull" the gears off the shaft, you almost REQUIRE pictures so as to get them
back in the correct places - no ?!

BTW - could you use Threaded Rods instead of longer carriage bolts ? Then you could make the puller as long as you wanted it to be....

How do you get the gears back in place ?

If you need such a strong "Puller" - how do you get them back onto the shaft ?

They must fit quite tightly....

If I replace the input shaft bearings, wouldn't I be foolish not to do the synchros
at the same time - plus the clutch, also....

I hope your project has a good outcome !

PS - you surely could start a separate "Instructional" Thread when you are done.
Then we could "Close" it to keep tons of comments from being added by others.

I don't know if you can delete THIS entire thread though. Needs input from
a moderator who knows his butt from a hole in the ground - which I do not !
