We have a 2012 Outback purchased new, in our family. I have done the maintenance since the local dealer hit us for over $400 on the first service then scared a family member into an un-needed rear brake job. We got the letter about the extended warrantee but have had no success pursuing remedy. The dealer keeps asking to do oil consumption checks, (way over 1 l per 1000 kms) but no action. This engine has a recognized problem acknowledged by the manufacturer but there is no action. Don't ever buy a Subaru.
In total contrast, another family member has a Acura mdx purchased used. This week Acura has given him a new 2019 mdx as a loaner for a week while they replace the oil drinking engine. Same problem as the Subaru but Acura steps up. Way to go Acura. Subaru not so much.
