I have a 2006 Malibu Maxx with EPS. The car has about 50k miles. it belonged to a family member that did not drive a lot. This is more noticeable the higher the speed. There seems to be a dead spot from center turning CCW. When i turn CW just a few degrees to get the equal amount CCW i have to turn twice as much for about 10 degrees. I was under the impression that the EPS assisted the turning and if it failed it would just be difficult to turn like with hydraulic PS loosing the pump.
so is the dead spot a mechanical issue or something like calibrating the EPS sensors ..? there is no noise, harshness, vibration etc.
