Look on pages 35 and 38. They don't call it what I said anymore but those pages talk about it.

Yes, you are correct. Someone with a good ear can go from the right and left fader and listen to the music. If the bass responce seems louder when the fader is all the way to the right or left, they are wired out of phase. This is simply having them wired backward from each other. So, simply swaping around the speaker wire on ONE speaker will correct this. It is a very common problem.
