Hello,
I have a noise issue on my 90 prizm with 156k miles, which have costed me so much after bouncing to several mechanics shops. I was initially told that front left axle and bearing was bad, so I replaced both, and rear struts, so I replaced both rear and i also replaced front break pads. The Transmission shop told me that the transmission is bad and that I have to replace it. Another shop (Pepboys stated that possible the shaft center support bearing). Man I am confused!!!!!!!! and outspend already on these issues without solving the problem. However, the noise is still there. I can only go 50mph max on freeway, it makes a loud noice. Actually the noise starts at 10mph and increases as I accelerate. The Transmission itself shifts great, no other issues with it, but only the hrrrr--hrrrrr-hrrr noise.
Can someone help or anyone who has experienced with 90prizm similar issue, what would be the best approach? Oh by the way GM no longer makes these Transmission or parts used to support these transmissions.
