Yeah, the motors do wear out over time - however, hearing a griding sound is more likely a failure then a 'wear out'. The company is trying to save some bucks by making that claim (the universallly say that about everything). The guys at the shop should be able to tell on sound alone that the gears aren't worn out. Worn out gears don't grind.
